A board-certified dermatologist with over twenty years of experience, Dr. Franziska Ringpfeil, M.D. is the founder and director of Ringpfeil Advanced Dermatology - one of the leading cosmetic and laser treatment centers in the East Coast. Dr. Ringpfeil graduated with her medical degree from Dusseldorf, Germany and later completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University. Q: Tell us a bit about your experience and your achievements.
Dr. Ringpfeil: I am an assistant professor in the department of dermatology at Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia as well as a board-certified practicing dermatologist. With over two decades in this field, I have not only learned a lot about different aspects of dermatology, but have also performed various skin procedures. I work with patients who have medical needs as well as those who are looking for cosmetic enhancements. I have also received several awards, including the very prestigious Young Investigator Award for my outstanding research work from the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Ringpfeil: Yes, there are four main areas that really set us apart from other medical centers when it comes to how we interact with our patients online. To be specific, our practice can be split into two areas: medical and cosmetic. Some of the most common medical procedures we perform are related to acne, eczema, psoriasis, keloids, rashes, shingles, melanoma, and skin cancer. On the cosmetic side of our practice, we administer Botox and various dermal fillers for facial rejuvenations, remove tattoos and unwanted hair, and treat scars and rosacea. Q: You're the only center in Pennsylvania to use the PicoSure laser. What is this device and how does it work?
Dr. Ringpfeil: Yes, that is correct. We are the only laser center to take advantage of this innovative device. PicoSure is similar to other laser tattoo removal technologies that are widely available today. However, the major differing factor between them and PicoSure is that PicoSure generally requires fewer treatments than other devices. PicoSure releases short bursts of energy pulses that break down ink particles. The ink particles are disintegrated to such a small state that it becomes extremely easy for the body to get rid of them. The PicoSure laser is FDA-approved and very safe and effective. It can be used to treat various skin pigmentation conditions, as well.
Q: Facial rejuvenation treatments are really popular nowadays. What are some that you offer?
Dr. Ringpfeil: Indeed, cosmetic procedures have picked up greatly over the last decade and we made sure to serve those clients, too. We offer Botox, which is the top anti-wrinkle treatment today, as well as various injectable fillers including Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, and Artefill, just to name a few.
