Dr. Gail M. Humble is a board certified physician specializing in dermatology and cosmetic surgery with over 16 years of experience in anesthesia. Dr. Humble has received certifications from the American Board of Laser Surgery and the American Board of Anesthesia. Currently she has her own private practice in San Francisco, California where she provides non-surgical aesthetic solutions for her patients.

Q: Tell us about your work in anesthesia.

Dr. Humble: I've worked for over sixteen years as a certified anesthesiologist and perfected my skill with the usage of injections. It was after this that I branched out into the field of non-surgical cosmetic treatment and brought along with me the techniques and experience which I acquired throughout my time in anesthesiology.

Q: So what kind of cosmetic surgery do you perform?

Dr. Humble: Although I do have experience in the more invasive forms of plastic surgeries, I now focus only on non-surgical methods. There are many different non-surgical options available today. Every day new techniques and technologies arise. Some of my most popular treatments uses PRP injections, laser devices and dermal fillers.

Q: Can you tell us about a few of these non-surgical treatments?

Dr. Humble: Well, some of the most popular injectables and fillers I use include Botox, Radiesse, Juvederm, Artefill, Dysport, and Restylane Silk. These injectabes are primarily used for treating various signs of aging such as facial wrinkles and creases. In addition to these, I have other choices available that reduce or remove a variety of skin conditions. Some common methods I use are Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), sclerotherapy, and ThermiRF.

Aside from these, there are also many treatments performed with lasers as well as facial peels. Overall, I utilize dozens of different kinds of non-surgical methods to suit the needs of my patients.

Q: Interesting. Can you expand on the latter three options that you offer?

Dr. Humble: Sure. Firstly, the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection, also known as “Vampire Beauty” treatment, is performed by drawing blood from the patient, removing the red blood cells so that only the plasma remains in the blood, and finally injecting that plasma directly into the affected area that requires treatment. This process encourages tissue healing and effectively reduces wrinkles, sagging skin, acne scar, and several other skin conditions.

Sclerotherapy is used to remove unsightly varicose veins. If a vein is found safe for treatment, we inject a chemical into the treatment region that causes the vein to shut off and stop functioning. As a result, the body reroutes the blood to other veins making the varicose vein obsolete.

Lastly, ThermiRF is a radio frequency device that works by inserting an RF thermistor probe into the deep layers of the skin. The heat from the device, which is controlled by the physician, causes the collagen to shrink. This tightens the skin and over time causes the collagen to return to its natural state.

Q: How about laser treatments, what do you offer?

Dr. Humble: I use laser therapy for a wide array of treatments. Most commonly, I use the Pixel Erbium Laser. Among others, some of the treatment areas include:

  • Forehead Lines
  • Frown Lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Skin Resurfacing
  • Marionette Lines
  • Crow's Feet
  • Freckles
  • Acne Scars
  • Skin Discolouration

Laser treatment is all the rage these days because the treatment is quick and does not require any downtime. The effects begin to show shortly after treatment and the only precaution that needs to be taken is to make sure one wears sunscreen and covers the treated area from direct sunlight.

Q: Where are you located and how can patients contact you for a booking?

Dr. Humble: I have actually just recently partnered with Dr. James Anthony at his office which is located at 450 Sutter Street in San Francisco, California. I am also partnered with Dr. Elizabeth Chase of the NeuYou Skin Rejuvenation Center in the Pacific Palisades, California.

Patients that are interested in scheduling a consultation for any treatment are free to visit either of the two locations in person. Alternatively, they can email me directly at info@drgailhumble.com or drop me a call and book their appointment over the phone by calling 415-395-7323.
