What are your credentials?

Dr. Chugh: I am a board certified physician who graduated from Cornell University, one of the most prestigious universities in the country. I completed by training at the St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital and the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Along with my studies in cosmetic and aesthetic medicine, I am part of some of the most distinguished medical societies including the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, the American Medical Association, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-aging and Regenerative Medicine.
Being a board-certified physician, it is important to keep up to date with the latest technologies and methods in cosmetic medicine. That is why I work hard to find the best skin care and aging solutions for my patients. This includes keeping track of the newest proven procedures and revisiting my books to keep myself in tip-top shape.

What sets you apart from other physicians?

Dr. Chugh: I began practicing medicine back in 2004. During my younger years, I was teased for my acne and facial hair. After discovering laser hair removal and treatments for acne, I was inspired to help others with their cosmetic and aesthetic concerns. To me, there is nothing more important that your safety, self-confidence and happiness. That is why unlike many physicians and surgeons, I perform all the procedures myself to guarantee the highest quality treatment for my patients. My goal as a board certified physician is to listen carefully to patient concerns and work together to tailor a treatment specific to you.

Can you explain the Wellness Services you offer?

Dr. Chugh: I am a strong believer in both inner and outer beauty. Not only am I passionate about cosmetic and aesthetic medicine, I also share a great interest in personal wellness and healing. Our wellness services aim to help patients manage stress, insomnia, anxiety, trauma and more. One of the most popular treatments we offer is Reiki. Reiki is used to balance and relax the human mind and body. This allows for our own bodily system to heal and recover itself from physical, mental and emotional stress. Other wellness services we offer are EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique and Resonance Repatterning.

What do you specialize in?

Dr. Chugh: I am most well-known for my non-invasive approach to cosmetic medicine. This includes Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, Ultherapy and facial peels. Botox is known to temporarily freeze signs of wrinkles such as frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. Dermal fillers such as Juvederm and Voluma is used to fill in or add volume in areas such as under the eye, lips, chin and cheeks. Ultherapy is the latest non-surgical treatment popular among patients. This FDA approved treatment lifts areas of the face including the brows, face and chin. Overall, my specialties are in non-invasive cosmetic medicine and the aging process.

What is the difference between Juvederm and Voluma?

Dr. Chugh: Juvederm and Voluma are both dermal fillers used to treat signs of aging such as smile lines, under eye circles and loss of facial volume. Juvederm is one of the most widely ised dermal fillers to date. Usually lasting up to 6-12 months, Juvederm can treat smile likes and jowls. More popularly, Juvederm can be used to enhance lips, cheeks and the chin. This is an excellent non-surgical alternative for those who do not want to go under the knife. Similar to Juvederm, Voluma instantly adds volume to the face, specifically the cheek area. With results lasting up to 2 years, Voluma can provide patients with fuller and higher cheeks. I personally treat each of my patients to ensure the highest, most natural results. Because these treatments are non-invasive, patients can return to their normal activities the next day.

Is Botox only for the face?

Dr. Chugh: Botox is the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatment in the United States, but when most people think of Botox, they imagine an over stretched and frozen face. In fact, when injected properly, Botox can give the most natural results in reducing the looks of lines and wrinkles. It is an FDA approved product used by millions. But Botox is not just for the face. In fact, Botox can be used to treat excessive sweating, headaches and TMJ pain. Botox temporarily blocks nerve signal which stimulate sweat production. I usually recommend Botox to patients who suffer from excessive sweating or Axillary Hyperhidrosis and found traditional method such as deodorants unhelpful. TMJ is the temporomandibular joint or the joint which allows your mouth to open and close. When someone suffers from TMJ disorder, the joint undergoes a spasm that can lead to headaches and pain in the lower jaw. Using Botox, I can help patients alleviate the spasm therefore relieving them of pain.

What is Ultherapy and is it safe?

Dr. Chugh: Ultherapy is first and only FDA approved non-invasive treatment used to lift skin on the neck, chin, brow, and the upper chest. I was one of the first physicians to use Ultherapy in New York City. Ultherapy is a safer and faster alternative to a face lift and neck lift. It uses focused ultrasound to stimulate collagen growth. This lifts and tightens the skin. Patients can experience a little redness on the treatment area, but this usually subsides within an hour or two. Results usually last up to one year. I recommend patients to get regular touch ups in the future for maintenance purposes. Ultherapy takes years of the skin. Not only do I recommend this for women, but for men as well. If you are experiencing a little sagging under the chin or around the face, consider visit my New York City practice for a free consultation.

When is the best time to schedule a chemical peel?

Dr. Chugh: A chemical peel is a skin rejuvenation procedure that softens rough skin, treats acne blemishes, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, evens out skin tone and lightens scars. A chemical peel is best during less sunnier seasons meaning the fall and winter. I perform a medical chemical peels that promotes skin resurfacing. Because new skin is ultra-sensitive to sun damage, I often tell patients to schedule their chemical peels during the cooler months. I have performed hundreds of chemical peels over the years, but it is not for everyone. Be sure to consult with a skin expert before going in for a chemical peel.
